 We had a great day in room 204.  The students today shared details today of fun times during the winter break! This morning we started reading Poppy. We are loving it!  In the afternoon, we began researching life cycles of our chosen animal with a buddy.



Our BLAST Auction class basket theme is “SPORTS”! Please feel free to send in anything that might support this theme. We are getting excited about this special event.

The 3/4 Team just celebrated our shared love of reading at our Read to Waikiki Party, and together we now give from our hearts in our “SURF’S UP FOR HEALTHY SNACKS” FOOD DRIVE. Our community service learning food drive, which continues our school-wide efforts to fight hunger locally, is now underway and will run through Valentine’s Day. This food drive will benefit Detroit City Mission as they strive to improve the lives of our inner city youth. Please donate items from the City Mission Wish List by Monday, February 14th. A list of items went home with each child last week and can also be found on the BCS website: www.bcsonline.info (click on Parent Resources tab and scroll down to BCS and Beyond). Collection boxes are located in the 3/4 alcove in the main hallway. Our goal is 1,500 healthy snack items, so please donate as many items as you are able!

This morning we read about Sacagawea and compared her to story to another hero story. We recorded our comparisons on the wiki. In the afternoon, we created our science vocabulary page on the wiki with Mr. Whitmer. We also had a great time learning about New York City, formally known as New Amsterdam!  It was a great day!

Battle of the Books Update:
The 4th graders are very excited to Battle! Battlers, please remember that pizza lunch, snacks, and dessert  is part of the Battle. Stduents will leave for the media center at 9:15 for the Battle.  We are cheering for you Battlers!

Happy Valentine’s Day!

Today we learned about Lou Gehrig who saw himself as “The Luckiest Man Alive”. We also went onto the wiki and discussed our opinions with the class of the new and old team uniforms of the New York Yankees. In the afternoon we learned more about the lives of our crickets and the Northeast region of the United States.

We are having a great Monday. This morning we made observations of our butterfly chrysalis. In the afternoon, we met our crickets! Report cards are coming home today. Please return the signed envelope tomorrow and retain the report. It was a very exciting day!





Our BLAST Auction class basket theme is “SPORTS”! Please feel free to send in anything that might support this theme. We are getting excited about this special event.

The 3/4 Team just celebrated our shared love of reading at our Read to Waikiki Party, and together we now give from our hearts in our “SURF’S UP FOR HEALTHY SNACKS” FOOD DRIVE. Our community service learning food drive, which continues our school-wide efforts to fight hunger locally, is now underway and will run through Valentine’s Day. THE READING TO WAIKIKI CELEBRATION WAS A BLAST! Thank you so much to all the parents who were involved in organizing and supervising the great event. It was worth the READ.  We've uploaded some pictures from the party for you to enjoy.  Happy weekend!

We are getting right back into the groove on this sunny Thursday! This morning we read and discussed the life of Gloria Estefan. In the afternoon we explored geography and maps skills and the peopling of the United States. We swam and enjoyed art also! Have a great afternoon!

Tomorrow is our Waikiki party. It will from 10-11 in the gym. You are welcome to come and enjoy lunch with us at 11!
