In Writer’s Workshop we are just putting the finishing touches on our 5 paragraph persuasive essay.  We are learning that authors always go back to revise and edit their work to make it the best it can be.  We will be meeting with some older students to share these essays and learn from them!  In Reader’s Workshop we continue to work on our reading skills and applying our knowledge to understand what we are reading.  We are also going to begin learning about nonfiction text features.  We will learn how to use them in our reading and how to incorporate them into our own nonfiction writing.

Social Studies:
We have started our study of Economics and the kids are loving it!

Science:
We just finished our unit on Energy.  Tests went home last week on Friday.  Soon we will begin our next exciting science unit on Plants.  This is especially exciting as we will incorporate a lot of the knowledge we have gained from our Tower Garden project!
