Thank you to my thoughtful class!

Dear Parents and Students,
I greatly appreciate the most generous Somerset gift card. It is my favorite mall, and I will enjoy some holiday shopping during the break. I feel very lucky to be surrounded by such wonderful families.
I wish you a joyous holiday break full of fun and adventure with your family and friends.  Thanks again for the thoughtful gift.    I look forward to seeing your smiling faces next year!

Happy Holidays,
Mrs. Butzin

The students got to enjoy a wonderful Holiday party. Thank you to all the parents who helped with supplies of food/snacks, drinks, and craft activities.
~Wishing you all the best for the Holidays~

12/20/2012

The winter Holiday party is tomorrow, Friday December 21st 2pm-3pm.
Below are the details that were emailed to parents:
BCS 3/4 CLASSROOM WINTER PARTY PROJECT

We are very excited to announce that all 3/4 classrooms will be taking part in a project benefiting the Pediatric Department at Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak.  We are hoping that this will help reinforce the spirit of giving for our children this holiday season.

The students in each class will have a chance to write a Holiday Card to a pediatric patient.  The student can decorate or write as he/she wishes (nondenominational templates will be made available to the students at the party).
The classroom will make a Gingerbread Chain that will be hung in the Pediatric Department.  These 8 chains will help brighten the hallways for the children.

The students are invited to bring in one of the following UNWRAPPED gifts to their Winter Party.  These OPTIONAL gifts will be collected and donated to the hospital.  Prizes and gifts are an ongoing need in the Pediatric Department.  They are used for prizes for pokes and medical procedures, birthdays and end of chemotherapy.  (Note – this list is the department’s recommendations and what they need most). . .

Happy 9th Birthday Adiev!

We had a busy and fabulous day today! After math, we did some grammar and editing practice. The kids and I reviewed some important rules that we will try to infuse in our writing. Before lunch we had some time for Reader’s Workshop and to work on our higher order thinking skills while reading. After lunch we had Spanish, planners, Science experiments, and time to preview our Lansing trip. Finally, we ended the day by celebrating Adiev’s birthday! Happy 9th Birthday Adiev!

Tomorrow is our big trip to Lansing! The kids are so excited about it! I have just a few reminders for you. Our bus will be leaving at 8:30am. It is very important that your child arrive at school on time and use the restroom right away. The kids can bring their coats and lunches straight to the room at 8:20am. Our chaperones will have a meeting in the media center at 8:10am and then we will walk out to the bus together. Students are more than welcome to bring electronics and books to keep them busy while on the long bus ride. You will just want to remind your child that he/she is responsible for these items. Everyone should bring a snack for the bus as well as a sack lunch to enjoy midday. We will leave Lansing at 1:00pm and will return to BCS at the end of the day!

Lansing Check List:

--Eat a good breakfast but don't drink too much! (It's a long ride and we aren't planning bathroom stops. This one is for moms and dads and our morning coffee too!)

--Pack a healthy lunch, at least 2 snacks, and a drink. (NO NUTS!!) Use disposable containers, please.

--You will carry your own food, drink, and book/DS/iTouch/camera. As always, you bring things at your own risk. Every child is responsible for his/her own belongings.
