Update for Tuesday/Wednesday!

PLEASE SEND YOUR CHILD WITH A WATER BOTTLE!!! This helps a lot, so he/she does not have to leave the room when thirsty! Your child is also welcome to keep healthy snacks in our classroom to eat any time

Language Arts: 
In writer’s workshop, we are continuing our writing work on small moments and personal narratives.  We are focusing on incorporating sensory details into our writing.  We are also learning to add leads and endings to our narratives.  In reader's workshop, we are learning to take charge of our own comprehension.  Finally, in our independent reading time, we are using all of our reading skills to help us improve our reading stamina.  We are working hard!

Social Studies:  
We continue to think like geographers as we learn how to read maps.  We are learning about map grids, hemispheres, latitude and longitude, keys/legends, political maps,  population maps an creating our own map grid, key/legend.  

Science:  
Our second tower garden harvest will occur soon!!!  It is exciting to watch our gourmet lettuce, bok choi, basil and mint quickly grow in the tower garden.  Mint was transplanted from soil to our garden and are in awe of the way it has adjusted after we cut roots.  We share this garden with other classes who will put the finishing touches on it this week!  We are having the best time learning what successful scientists do!

Here’s What We Have for You Today:

Our Lansing field trip is on Wednesday, November 30th.  We will depart at 8:30 so make sure you arrive to school on time with lunch!  This is an all day field trip and students will bring lunch in a disposable bag with some snacks for the bus!  Students are allowed to bring any electronic devices and ear buds with parent permission.  Students will be responsible for the devices. We will return to school by 3:20.  Dress for the winter weather that we are experiencing!  Get ready for an exciting trip!

Our First Tower Garden Harvest!

What an exciting day!   We tasted and harvested Gourmet Lettuce, Basil and Bok Choi from our tower garden today!  Students are bringing home samples of each for you to enjoy.
