Today was a thrilling third day in room 204! I absolutely love this class. They are the most cooperative workers! This morning we had a blast creating our own Wordle. Ms. Llewellyn came in and helped us, too. We learned how to create a Wordle, take a screen shot, crop in word, copy into PPT and save as a JPEG. We also learned to print to the color printer. You will see our Wordle Posters on our lockers and wikis soon. In the afternoon, we started creating our own informational posters with our buddies. We also went to Eng. Tech and Swim today. Get ready for a fantastic Friday!

Our school planners will not be ready for a couple weeks, so your child is bringing home a temporary planner. Part of your child's homework each night is to have you sign that planner. Please do so each day so I know you are aware of each night's homework.

Some of us have mail today!

*Please encourage your child to bring a water bottle to class so he/she does not have to leave class when thirsty!

IT IS IMPORTANT FOR YOUR CHILD TO BRING SHARPENED PENCILS TO SCHOOL EACH DAY! PLEASE PROVIDE YOUR CHILD WITH A PERSONAL PENCIL SHARPENER TO KEEP IN HIS/HER BINDER!!!

Today was an awesome second day of school! This morning we had the most fun learning about the 3 E’s and how to ensure that each one is valued. This class is amazing and we are having the best time getting to know our learning community. Yesterday we had a Town hall meeting with Mr. Hartley and Mrs. Chinn to introduce the BCS theme of Being G.E.E.K ed (Global Education Engaging Kids)
This is a year where we are going to have fun taking risks and pushing ourselves forward.

This afternoon we met with our Ed. Tech teacher and our Spanish teacher. Get ready for a thrilling Thursday!

Please check your child's Blue Take Home Folder today for all the mail he/she received. It's a lot, but it's important, so please go over it all!

Our school planners will not be ready for a couple weeks, so your child is bringing home a temporary planner. Part of your child's homework each night is to have you sign that planner. Please do so each day so I know you are aware of each night's homework.

3rd Grade Math: Today we received our student reference book (SRB). The SRB will be staying at home with you as a reference guide for the year. Each student was assigned a book they will return at the end of the year. We also have a newer set of SRB’s for the classroom. Please be aware that this edition is older than the Math Journal and Home Link book. Students also received their homelink book. I told the kids that these live, eat and breath in the binder! The homelink books are hole-punched and should be bound by the three rings. The students will work inside of the binder when using the home link book. This will ensure that it doesn’t get lost! Tomorrow we will be exploring these journals!

4th Grade Math: Today we received our fourth grade Student Reference Books! The kids will keep these at home until June. Please know that they are an older edition so the page numbers may not match your child’s math book all the time. However, this is an excellent resource for you to keep at home! Your child received a Student Reference Book Hunt today. This needs to be completed and signed by Monday the 13th! Today we also took a practice multiplication timed test. By the end of the year, your child should be able to complete 100 facts in 5 minutes. If this was not the case today, it is always a good idea to practice with him/her for a few minutes a day! Tomorrow we will receive our journals and study links!

I am so excited to see you and hear about your summer adventures.

I have had a wonderful summer with my family! My son, Steele, turned 10 in August and is excited to be in 4th grade this year. My daughter, Sloan, is excited about going to 2nd grade this year. We spent 4 weeks on the coast of GA at my parents. They live on St, Simons Island along the Atlantic Ocean. We also ventured to Ft. Lauderdale with our family and grandparents for a week and had a blast. The picture above is from the Tigers game on Lutheran Night. We got to walk out onto the field! Going "upnorth" to the lake for tubing and water skiing was also one of our favorite things. I've also completed a web 2.0 technology course, too! We are going to have an exciting school year together full of fun learning. Get ready! Love, Mrs. Butzin

Summer packets are due in September, 2010

The 3/4 packet and supply list link is posted at the top of the right column for you.

Special Note: Butzin's class will start swimming on Wednesday September 8th so don't forget your swimsuit and towel on the second day of school :)

Our current fourth graders will be visiting our halls next year, and we look forward to you stopping by often to share your smiles and experiences! We will miss you so much and appreciate all of the wonderful things you contributed to help make our year magical. Enjoy the summer with your friends and family.

Good afternoon! We had the best Move-Up Day today!!! The third graders were amazing role models for our second graders and it sounds like the fourth graders had fun up in fifth grade!!! Our class had the best time making Move Up Day movies to share with the incoming third graders. Click here to enjoy them!

Tomorrow is Wacky Recess in the morning. If your child wants to bring a bathing suit, he/she is free to do so. There are water games where they will get a little wet, so it's up to the kids if they want to wear a suit or not. Shorts and a change of clothes is a good idea. Students should wear tennis shoes for the events, no sandals. Finally, our team color is RED!
They will be outside eating lunch after the games are over, so they will dry!!!

Have a great night and get ready for a Fabulous Friday of Fun!!!!!

I attended a district meeting yesterday and was thrilled to receive such a nice report from our guest teacher today. In languge arts today, we continued to work on our poetry packet. These samples are great for students to use as a reference at home if needed. We are really loving this unit, and I can’t wait to introduce the tech project that goes with it tomorrow! This afternoon we did some more social studies and had some great discussions about Michigan history!
