Happy Constitution Day! I missed the kids so much yesterday! While I did learn a lot, it was hard to be away! This morning we learned about the importance of our Constitution. This afternoon we met with Mr. Whitmer and experimented with a program called “Audacity.” Ask your child about it! We will be using it a lot in our upcoming science unit on Sound!!! If you want to play with it, you can download it for free online! We also started bucket filling today. Ask your child to share the details of this with you. Have a great weekend…

Dates to Remember:
Back to School Night for PARENTS ONLY is September 23. Our schedule for the evening is as follows:
6:00-6:30 – Volunteer Sign Up

7:00- Media Center with Mr. Hartley and Ms. Chinn

IT IS IMPORTANT FOR YOUR CHILD TO BRING SHARPENED PENCILS TO SCHOOL EACH DAY! PLEASE PROVIDE YOUR CHILD WITH A PERSONAL PENCIL SHARPENER TO KEEP IN HIS/HER BINDER!!!

Here's what we have for you today:
3rd Grade Reading: 20 minutes each day
4th Grade Reading: 30 minutes each day

Social Studies:
Explore using Audacity at home. Go to the “How to” videos link on our blog and follow along.

Explore using Audacity at home. Let the “How to” videos guide you.Language Arts: We received directions for our first writing assignment. The directions are attached to a plastic ziplock bag and should be coming home today with your child. Students will bring in 5 objects representative of them. This is due Monday, September 20th. Remember, the objects must fit inside of the ziplock bag. Ex. Golf ball, picture of a pet, necklace, etc.

3rd Grade Math: Study multiplication facts 2-3 for 10 minutes
4th Grade Math: If your child did not get Wednesday’s fact tests signed, please make sure he/she does so to earn credit for this assignment! We will have our Unit 1 test on Thursday the 23rd. To prepare for this test, you will want to do your homework, ask questions in class, and study your addition and subtraction facts!!! Tonight’s homework: Give your parents the yellow letter I handed out. JP 16, 20 SL 1.6 (The “Try This” section on the Study Link is optional)

REMEMBER TO GET YOUR PLANNER SIGNED EVERY DAY!

Encourage your child to use the yellow checklist in his/her binder at the end of each day! It is a great tool!

BIRTHDAY CELEBRATIONS:

We would love to share in your child’s birthday celebration. If you would like your child to celebrate their birthday at school, please note the following ideas for celebrations:
Please prepare an individual snack for each child.
Please PRECUT large items providing 27 napkins/plates and other necessary utensils.
There are 27 of us!
We will celebrate all birthdays during the designated snack time!
No peanuts please!
If you would prefer that your child not participate in birthday celebrations, please let me know as soon as possible.
