Science Center Field Trip Friday, March 11th

If you are unable to attend, please let me know. Please bring a bag lunch and plan to meet in the media center at 9:05 for an orientation.
Our schedule for the trip:
9:05- Chaperones meet in media center
9:15- Depart from BCS
10:15-11:00 Lunch in Café
11:00-12:00 IMAX Movie –Animal Habitats
12:00-12:30 Browse Museum (optional scavenger hunt)
12:30-1:00 Sparks Theatre
1:00 sharp Busses leave Detroit Science Center
1:30 Busses arrive at BCS
4th Grade Instrumental Selection Timeline -Tuesday, March 18
8:30 - 9:45 (approximately) in the Cafeteria
Anderson Music will introduce the instrumental program, as well as demonstration of all instruments taught in the beginning band and orchestra program. A Selmer Music Survey is administered to all participating students. All students will need a #2 pencil.
10:30 (approximately) - the rest of the school day in the Band and Orchestra rooms
We will have a rotation of students – (4 to 6) Students at a time will be fitted to the recommended instruments. Please instruct the students to wash their hands before the fitting session.
Mrs. Butzin will be out March 10th for district training.
*Please encourage your child to bring a water bottle to class so he/she does not have to leave class when thirsty!
We SWIM on Tuesday and Thursday! Bring all necessary items for these days!
Here's what we have for you today:
Reading:
3rd Grade Reading: 20 minutes each day
4th Grade Reading: 30 minutes each day
Science:
We are going to take a life cycle quiz on Thursday! Students brought home a study guide on Tuesday.
Spelling: Test and spelling assignment is due March 14 (Friday).
3rd Grade Math:
Study multiplication facts 6, 7, 8 and 9 for 15 minutes!

3rd Grade End of year fact expectations:
Students should have quick mental recall of the following number of facts by the end of the year: 30 addition/30 subtraction facts in 2 mins and 50 division/50 multiplication facts in 3 mins
4th Grade Math:
JP 227-228 SL 8.2 and SL 8.3
REMEMBER TO GET YOUR PLANNER SIGNED EVERY DAY!
Encourage your child to use the yellow checklist in his/her binder at the end of each day! It is a great tool!

BIRTHDAY CELEBRATIONS:
We would love to share in your child’s birthday celebration. If you would like your child to celebrate their birthday at school, please note the following ideas for celebrations:
Please prepare an individual snack for each child.
Please PRECUT large items providing 27 napkins/plates and other necessary utensils.
There are 27 of us!
We will celebrate all birthdays during the designated snack time!
No peanuts please!
If you would prefer that your child not participate in birthday celebrations, please let me know as soon as possible.
