Today we had the best Holiday Party! We want to thank the wonderful parents who organized the party events. It was great to see many of you here! Today we received caterpillars for our insect study.
Our mealworms are hungry! If you can send in a sliced apple, a sliced sweet potato, or a sliced carrot, we would appreciate it! Thanks so much!!! Have a great weekend!
For our insect unit, we need 5 2-liter bottles with caps. They need to be the clear kind. Green ones won’t work:( Thanks so much!
PLEASE MAKE SURE YOUR CHILD HAS PENCILS IN HIS/HER BINDER!!!
Here’s what we have for you tonight:
We have mail today!
Waikiki Reading Details… Today we introduced “Reading to Waikiki” which is our annual reading incentive program. We alternate this with Reading to the Superbowl and the kids just love it. Read your letter carefully to find out the minimum number of minutes that you need to read each week. You will receive 50 frequent flyer miles for each 100min/150 weekly minutes of reading. I will collect the first reading ticket on Monday January 12th. Your ticket must be signed by a parent to be valid. If we reach our goal, we’ll all enjoy our Waikiki party to celebrate on Friday February 6th.
Here are the official rules to go with the letter you will receive today:
Students can only count reading minutes for reading done at home (after school at 3:15pm or after choice hour at 4:05pm)
The kids are allowed to read extra minutes to help our team however a 3rd or 4th grader will only earn extra points if he or she doubles their reading requirement.
For example: For each additional 100 minutes a third grader reads, he would earn 50 extra miles (points) for his class.
