This morning we started our first reading theme of the year, “Journeys.” Today we built background details and tomorrow we will start reading the first story, Akaik, This morning we also went to a presentation done by our counselors. They taught us what they do in our school and how they can help us. Ask your child what he/she learned from our wonderful counselors! This afternoon we had a chance to read about some of our upcoming science experiments and learn about erosion. We will be back in the science lab tomorrow!!
*Please encourage your child to bring a water bottle to class so he/she does not have to leave class when thirsty!
IT IS IMPORTANT FOR YOUR CHILD TO BRING SHARPENED PENCILS TO SCHOOL EACH DAY!
PLEASE PROVIDE YOUR CHILD WITH A PERSONAL PENCIL SHARPENER TO KEEP IN HIS/HER BINDER!!!
Here’s what we have for you tonight:
3rd Grade Reading: 20 minutes
4th Grade Reading: 30 minutes
Language arts:
Memoirs are due Thursday, October 1st! Ask your child if he/she finished in class! If he/she did not, please help your child edit the rough draft and finish the final copy and the checklist. In the final copy packet, there should be a paragraph on each page and a picture on each page. They can also decorate the covers. Right now we are just working on complete sentences, capital letters in all the right places, and neatness! If your child needs “final copy paper,” please have him/her ask me!
Math:
3rd Grade: Review due Thursday; Test Friday; On the last page of the review, you should get a parent to time you. Afterwards, have the parent record your time and score at the bottom of the page.
Students will keep their homelink and math journals in their binders. These will travel to and from school each day in the binder. Please help your child find a great permanent location for each of these in the binder if he/she did not in class today. We will use each of these in class everyday!
3rd Grade Mental recall goals (for exiting 3rd grade):
30 addition and 30 subtraction in 2 mins, 50 multiplication and 50 division 3 mins. Check out the math website at the top of our Blog. It is great for practicing all facts!
4th Grade Math: Today we got our tests back and went over them. Please get your test letter signed by tomorrow! We started Unit 2! Tonight’s homework is JP 28-29 SL 2.1. It asks you to use a Student Reference book, but be careful because the pages might not match up with the old SRB’s! “Geometry Museums” are due on October 9th!
Summer Packets: Due on Wednesday, September 30th. Please keep this at home until September 30th as we do not have the room to store it until then. Thank you!!!
REMEMBER TO GET YOUR PLANNER SIGNED EVERY DAY!
