It was a Marvelous Monday in room 204.
We will be going to the Environmental Center on Wednesday! As scientists, we have been studying the interactions of earth systems-air water and soil this year. On Wednesday, we will be outside taking soil samples and inside exploring the chemistry of water. It is supposed to be really cold on Wednesday and a portion of our trip will be outside. We have found that layering clothing and jackets works well for variable temperatures. A hat and gloves will also be needed. Please check the weather and dress appropriately for the day. We will be back at 11:00 for lunch at BCS.
These parents signed up as chaperones for our upcoming field trip to the Rouge Factory tour on December 14th. If you will not be able to join us, please let me know. You will enjoy this trip!

I hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving with your family and friends!
Today we began reading Maniac Magee! We used examples from the book to talk about dramatic irony. Ask your child to tell you about the main character, Jeffrey and his home situation. This afternoon we began researching early Native American tribes native to Michigan. We took time today to learn about the differences in primary and secondary sources using pictures related to each tribe. It was exciting to work with Mrs. Truesdell for this research. We will continue this on Thursday. Get ready for another great day tomorrow!

A few students have emailed it to themselves and will be finishing this over the weekend.

Today was a wonderful Wednesday!
Izzy is going to share a highlight of our day.
We got our Michigan Books for Social Studies and we looked through them. A “Picture Tour” as Mrs. Butzin would call it. We learned about our States History, Native Americans, and we also watched a video about Michigan. It was awesome! …written by Izzy

It was such a great day today! This morning we worked hard on brainstorming for our personal narrative writing assignment. We were also encouraged by a wonderful model piece entitled ”The Great Gerbil Escape”. This afternoon we worked hard to finish up our second social studies unit which we will take a short quiz on tomorrow along with our vocabulary quiz! We also had some time to work on our cursive today! What a busy Monday!
Today your child is bringing home a flyer about an Earth Day Poster Contest. We had some time in class to go online and look at examples of posters from previous winners. If your child chooses to create a final poster and enter the contest, all of the information is on the flyer!

We had a great day in room 204! Book orders are coming home today. Beth Miller has coordinated this order and we so appreciate all of her hard work. May I suggest that you write your child’s name in his/her books. This will help eliminate any confusion with duplicate books in the classroom. We are excited about the Halloween party tomorrow and welcome you to join us for this special event! Students should come to school in their normal school clothes. At 1:15 the students will change into their costumes. (No full face masks in the class room, weapons, fake blood or inappropriate costumes). The BCS parade will start at 1:45 and take you two laps around the building. Then, we will come back to our homeroom for our Halloween party from 2:15-3:00. At 3:00 we will begin cleaning up and have bucket distribution time.

This morning I was out at a meeting. While I normally don’t like to leave the kids to go to a meeting, this one was well worth it! We were taught so many exciting things that I will soon be able to share with the kids using the program Voice Thread. It is fantastic! If you want to check out what your child has already done on Voice Thread, click on the “Our Wiki” link and find the link to Voice Thread. Then your child can sign you in! If your child does not remember, he/she can find his/her email address and password in the front of the planner.
