It was a great Friday in room 204! This morning in writers workshop we completed the district writing sample. In the afternoon, Mrs. Truesdell came and we set up our personal wiki links. We also learned how to tag and import templates. Afterwards, we went to the media center and then learned about current events in our Time for Kids magazines.

Subjects taught today:
Language Arts: Frindle and Writer’s Note book entry
Math: (3rd) Lesson 1.8 Finding Differences
Co-curricular class: PE

Here’s What We Have for You:

If your child has an ipod touch, a netbook, or an old laptop, and you feel comfortable allowing him/her to bring it to school, please do so ASAP! We need to get the info to our tech department so we can get everyone on our secure network. It will be extremely helpful during our science unit on Land and Water and throughout their time at Covington!

All About Me poster was due Thursday!

3rd Grade Math:
HL 1.6 and JP 14 -We use a cm/in ruler in math class each day. If you could check with your child to make sure this is in his/her binder for math class each day that would be great. Also, if you received the email about purchasing math tools, please know that there is only one that I recommend for use in class. It is the third grade geo-template. Your child will use that throughout the year and it would be so helpful for him/her to have it in his/her binder all the time! 3rd Grade End of Year Fact Expectations:
Students should have quick mental recall of the following number of facts by the end of the year: 30 addition/30 subtraction facts in 2 mins and 50 division/50 multiplication facts in 3 mins

4th Grade Math:
Today in class we took a practice fact test that looks quite similar to the one your child will take next week. Part of the homework is to get a parent to sign it and then it will come back home to you. This weekend we have JP 20 SL 1.7 JP 17-19 are optional. We have online quizzes due Monday and their codes are GXNY2231 and QBLO7229. We are practicing our addition and subtraction facts as we will have an addition/subtraction fact test along with our Unit 1 test on Friday the 23rd (next week). If you received the email about purchasing math tools, please know that there is only one that I recommend. It is the fourth grade geo-template. Your child will use that throughout the year and it would be so helpful for him/her to have it in his/her binder all the time! Please check your child's Blue Take Home Folder each day to check for mail, homework, and important information.

PLEASE INITIAL YOUR CHILD’S PLANNER EACH NIGHT SO I KNOW YOU ARE AWARE OF THE HOMEWORK AND EXCITING THINGS HAPPENING IN OUR CLASSROOM!

IT IS IMPORTANT FOR YOUR CHILD TO BRING SHARPENED PENCILS TO SCHOOL EACH DAY! PLEASE PROVIDE YOUR CHILD WITH A PERSONAL PENCIL SHARPENER TO KEEP IN HIS/HER BINDER!!!

PLEASE SEND YOUR CHILD WITH A WATER BOTTLE!!! This helps a lot, so he/she does not have to leave the room when thirsty! Your child is also welcome to keep healthy snacks in our classroom to eat any time!
