Today was an awesome 2nd day of school! We learned some interesting things about our buddy and our teacher. We also ready a fantastic book by Madonna entitled "Mr. Peabody's Apples" and talked about how to be a great friend and use "put-ups". We also had our first math class today. Students have an assignment for homework to share with you from math! Ask your child to share some details of our fun day with you.
3rd Grade Math:
It was a great first day of math. Third graders received their math journal today. These journals will stay in the BINDER at all times. I told the students to keep it inside the binder as they work. That way it never comes out and gets left at home! We will be using this each day in class. Students don’t work in the journal at home unless there is an assignment. Students are also bringing their SRB book home today. This will stay at home all year and will come back in June. It is an excellent resource to use at home. We also have new copies in our classrooms.
4th Grade Math:
We had a great first day in fourth grade math! Your child’s homework is to bring home their Student Reference Book (SRB) and find a safe place for it at home. This will stay home all year and come back in June. It is there to help! We also have an SRB Hunt due tomorrow!
For homework this week:
Soon we will be starting our Science unit on Land and Water! To do that, we need your help!! If you have a shoe box and/or a clear 2-Liter bottle at home, please send them in! Your child will also need 2 rocks and 2 small twigs for this unit. Thank you for your help!
Read the online handbook and sign the first page in your planner. Ask your parent to read and sign this page too! Due Friday Sept 9th or Monday, September 12th.
The students need to decorate their writer's notebook (See the bright pink note for the instructions.) They have their book in their zipper binders or back packs. It is due back on Friday September 9.
